Expected Duties, Additional Skill Level, Experience & Other Requirements

Seeking to hire  temporary employees -long term  to assist with a variety of HR responsibilities.


Program Area Duties:

Utilizing and adhering to all Civil Service rules and regulations, work directly with Program managers and liaisons to identify staffing needs and facilitate solutions.
Assist in the posting of job vacancy announcements for positions within various negotiating units

- Confirm type and status of vacant position
- Verify appropriateness of duties
- Verify minimum qualifications are current

Qualification of candidates
- Review of resumes when experience is required (non-competitive)
- Review of eligible list coding/results and timeframes (competitive)
- Review of licensure and degree as required
- Ensure all required documentation is provided and in order
- Respond to questions from candidates and hiring managers

Classification Requests

- If an appropriate item is not available to the Program, research options from titles within NYS Classified Service.

- Work with Program managers and liaison to prepare justification, position-specific duties and organizational chart and any other required documentation in support of the request.
Eligible List Unit Duties:
- Extract data from Civil Service instrument, upload into Access, reconcile information, address any issues
- Identify candidates for disqualification, perform mail merge and send notifications, resolve discrepancies
- Perform canvas of newly established eligible list certifications
- Compile responses and finalize lists
- Receive coded lists from Personnel Administrators and Regional Admin Offices and update systems

Out-of-Title Work Grievances Duties:
- Investigate information submitted in the request
- Consult with manager regarding alleged assignment
