Location: Rochester, NY
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8:00am-5:00pm



Job Description
Our client, a “NYS agency focused on providing safe, reliable, convenient, and sustainable transportation”, is looking for an Associate Accountant.


 


Responsibilities


o Review and enter all RTS Access, RTS Regional Operations and
Genesee Transportation Council invoices for payment
o Enter vendor wire payments and wage garnishments into Lawson for all
companies
o Enter and cut checks for Capital invoices on a monthly basis
o Perform deposits on a weekly basis for both RTS and regionals
o Respond to inquiries from internal customers and external vendors
o Prepare and mail vendor checks
o Establish, update, and maintain vendor records in Lawson
o Prepare monthly travel card reconciliation spreadsheet
o Process weekly workers’ compensation payments
o Perform monthly Regional vendor accruals and bank reconciliations.
Fare Media Fulfillment
o Process fare media orders, returns/refunds and exchanges

Required Qualifications :

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Four-year degree in accounting or related field
• Zero to two years of experience working in accounting or related field
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully
perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Ability to perform a variety of routine duties involving the use of procedures and the
application of clearly prescribed standard practice where the employee could make
minor decisions and use some judgment.
• Ability to work from objectives defined by supervisor or by explicit procedures and
rules. Proceeds alone on routine work and refers questionable cases to supervisor.
Finished work not regularly reviewed by supervisor. Performance of tasks and
activities are reviewed by supervisor on a scheduled basis.
• Strong computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively
with a diverse workforce.
• Strong time management skills; ability to multi-task, manage priorities, and meet
deadlines.
