Registered Nurse
Summary of need: New York State Agency
To provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting.
Facility Overview:
Center is located seven miles north of the city of Ithaca. Youth served are male, juvenile offenders. Depending upon the sentence, youth may remain in custody until the age of 21. Agency is accredited by the American Correctional Association and has a current population of approximately 36 youth.
Job duties:
Job duties include, but may not be limited to: maintaining general medical inventory (including controlled substances); conducting medication administration; reviewing the overall health conditions of youth (i.e. preparing, reviewing and evaluating nursing intervention plans); ensuring that interventions are consistent with comprehensive treatment plans; participating in staff trainings; preparing required clinical and administrative reports; maintain infection control standards; and, serve as a member of the facility’s medical treatment team. Qualifications:
Licensed/ and registered to practice nursing in New York State, AND one year of post-licensure nursing experience.
Hours: 2 positions needed. Possible Shift assignments: 4-ten hour shifts (9p-7a) or 3-twelve hour shifts (7p-7a), plus an additional 4 hour overnight shift. Both shift options will be every other weekend and the schedule will be discussed during the interview.
